Safeguarding Children Training - Fitzroy

The Safeguarding Children Training focuses on building knowledge about child abuse and neglect and it explains practical steps that staff and volunteers can take to create conditions that make children and young people safer in an organizational context.

Safeguarding Children Training topics:

1.      Defining child abuse and neglect
2.      Child sexual abuse
3.      Creating safer environments
4.      Recruitment and screening
5.      Dealing with reports and allegations of abuse

The training is interactive and seeks to engage the learner through discussion and participation in a range of learning activities e.g. case studies, role plays, myth/fact exercises. Materials will be provided to all course participants.

Learning outcomes:
  • Raises awareness of all forms of child abuse within an organisation.
  • Encourages a “whole of organization” approach to protecting children and young people.
  • Builds knowledge on how sex offenders operate and target children and young people within organizations.
  • Articulates key strategies for building a child-safe organization.
  • Provides clear guidance with respect to responding to child abuse.
